History Of The Club
Tableland Athletics is now entering it's 38th year. In 1983 we began providing athletics to children up to U15. As the club grew, it became apparent there was nowhere except Cairns for the older athlete's or parents to participate. So there the "amateur" contingent was introduced and it has now become an integral part of this club.
TAC is now a dual club (ANQ & LAQ). In the far north there are 3 clubs that currently operate like this - TAC, Mulgrave and Marlin Coast. It is an ideal way for the whole family to enjoy the sport without having to travel further afield or belong to two separate clubs.
Years ago, TAC was alternating it's venue between Mareeba & Atherton Secondary Schools. We now have our own home ground here at Tolga Reserve, with our new club houses completed just prior to the 2005 and 2016 season respectively. With numbers increasing, we anticipate excellent growth & development.
